Redcar is a seaside town in Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. The local council is a unitary authority, administrated independently of North Yorkshire County Council.

Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, it lies 7 1⁄2 miles (12 kilometres) east of Middlesbrough on the North Sea coast. The Coatham, Dormanstown, Kirkleatham, Newcomen, West Dyke and Zetland wards' population combined were 36,610 in the 2001 census decreasing to 35,692 in the 2011 census. It is part of the Teesside conurbation.
