Dark Point in History: Auschwitz-Birkenau Day Tour from Ostrava
Learn about the horrors which took place in the biggest concentration camp of the WWII, a memorial to all who suffered there. English speaking guide introduce you the recent history that should not be forget. The daily course of the camp, debris of brick and wooden buildings, chimneys, crematory, arrival ramps and personal possessions of prisoners are sad testimony of those millions lost lives.

Our minibus picks you up on a departure place. The journey from Ostrava to Auschwitz takes approximately half an hour. In the meantime, our guide informs you about the tour organization and tell you the basic info about the camp.

Around 9 am, we arrive to Oswiecim where we go through the first route of Auschwitz I with the museum\'s English guide who explain us the system of the main camp and tell us stories about some prisoners. Surrounded by barbed wires, warned by various signs, we experience the tense atmosphere of watchtowers, crematory, pile of shoes and other personal possession confiscated by the Nazis. You can also look into the first gas chamber ever put in operation here in Auschwitz.

When the tour ends, we have a lunch in one of the local restaurants before we move to the second part of the camp.

Our tour continue in the neighbouring Auschwitz II known as Birkenau, the biggest extermination camp. We enter the camp through the Gate of Death along the railway which leads to the camp since 1944. You can explore the vast complex on your own or you can follow our guide who shows you sleeping quarters representing the horrendous conditions in which the prisoners lived. At the back of the camp you find the debris of gas chambers and crematory that gives you a sense of the horrors that took place in there.

We come back to the Czech Republic in late afternoon hours.
