Hidden gems of Beskydy Foothills: Hukvaldy nad Stramberk Day Tour from Ostrava
Discover with us the precious corners of the Beskydy mountains - birth place of composer Leoos JanacelHukvaldy and little town Štramberk, poetically called \'\'Moravian Bethlehem.\'\'
Hukvaldy makes you understand why Janá?ek was so fascinated by its charming surroundings dominated by castle. Štramberk charms you with its crocked steets and beautiful houses with thatch roofs so we could finally admire a view from Trúba tower. All of this concluded with taste of the local delicatessen the Štramberk ears and gulp of beer \'Truba?\'.

We first visit he birthplace of the composer Leoš Janá?ek. The interior of the house is preserved in its original state - furnished kitchen, bedroom and drawing room. Everything kept as if he was to come back from concert for dinner. Hukvaldy is connected to Janá?ek through and through. His compositions are inspired by the locals and surrounding nature. As a tribute, International festival of classical music \'Janá?kovy Hukvaldy\' is held in here. When walking to the castle, we pass by a natural amphitheatre where part of the festival is taking place.

Then we head to the castle. During our journey, we come across a statue of \'\'Liška Bystrouška\'\' (famous Czech character of vixen). Again connected to Jana?ek by commemorating his famous opera, we also stop to rub the vixen\'s muzzle which is said to bring luck. Foxes are not the only animals we will see. In local forest there lives large herds of mouflons and groups of fallow deer. Rarity of Hukvaldy is a cluster of seven historical beech wiht roots so massive that it grows above ground.

Our wandering ends before the castle gates. Hukvaldy Castle is one of the biggest castles in Moravia. It was founded in 13th century and even nowadays the castle prides itself on its majesty. You will have time to explore the castle grounds on your own or in case of interest, our guide can show you the most interesting parts. After the castle tour we have a lunch at renowned restaurant \'U námo?níka.\'

Just a stone’s throw from Hukvaldy, the charming little town Štramberk lies at the foothills of Beskydy. It is nicknamed as “Moravian Bethlehem” and was founded in 14th century. However, the discovery of cave Šipka is a proof that the territory was preoccupied much earlier. We set out through the town\'s marvelous streets and alleys towards tower Trúba. We make the journey more pleasant with a visit in a little town\'s brewery to taste Truba? beer. Last but not least we cannot miss to try out a local dainty - Štramberk ears.

If weather permitting, we end our trip in cave Sipka to peep into prehistoric times.
